Erosion control must be installed and maintained in accordance with the approved plans. Contractor shall prevent silt and debris from leaving the site in accordance with the City of College Station Drainage Policy and Design Criteria. Owner and/or contractor shall be responsible for any damage to existing city streets or infrastructure due to heavy machinery and/or equipment. In accordance with Chapter 13 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of College Station, measures shall be taken to insure that debris from construction, erosion, and sedimentation shall not be deposited in city streets, or existing drainage facilities. The legal description is Foxfire Section Two, Block Six, Lots One & Two. The proposed improvements consist of a 3800 square foot building extension to an existing one story building, paving an existing gravel parking area and the associated infrastructure. The drainage area consists of 4.0 acres of grassland, an existing building and a gravel parking area with a drive from Foxfire Drive. The terrain slopes with an average grade of 2%. The site is zoned R-1 and is being improved by Mr. Jerry Kieschnick, 1018 Peach Creek Cutoff, College Station, TX. 77845, (409) 690-0710. The latest Flood Insurance Rate Maps for College Station show no portion of the site contains or abuts the regulatory 100-year flood plain or floodway. The goal of this study is to provide an economic design that will effectively manage the runoff produced by a 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 year storm by the use of a detention facility that will not increase the peak rate of discharge for the watershed and a design that complies with the City of College Station Stormwater Design Standards. EXISTING DRAINAGE BASIN DESCRIPTION: The storm runoff drains overland in a easterly direction toward an open ditch along Foxfire Drive. At the eastern most HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH DRAINAGE ANALYSIS PAGE I OF 3 PAGES property corner there is an existing CMP that routes the drainage across Foxfire Drive and on to the Foxfire Tributary. The proposed design requires that the existing ditch from the church's existing driveway to this CMP be cleaned out. PROPOSED DRAINAGE: The proposed design will route the flow across the site and concentrate it at the detention facility. At that point it will be discharged into the open ditch along Foxfire Drive. The discharge from the basin will not exceed the predevelopment conditions for any of the design storms. The basin is designed for the ultimate development of the church site which includes an additional building, parking and a driveway extension to Foxfire Drive. DRAINAGE FACILITY DESIGN: Predevelopment discharges for the 5, 10, 25, SO and 100 year storms were determined using the Haestead Methods Quick TR-55 rational method for computing runoff hydrographs. Detailed calculations are contained in PREDEVELOPMENT CONDITIONS. Post-development discharges were determined utilizing the same hydrography methodology. The detention facility was modeled using the Hae stead Methods Pond Pack computer program. Hydrographs were determined for inflow to the detention facility and outflows from the detention facility. Detailed calculations are contained in POSTDEVELOPMENT CONDITIONS. A summary of the results of all discharge calculations is presented in Table One. HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH DRAINAGE ANALYSIS PAGE 2 OF 3 PAGES The detention facility is designed to function for a range of storms up to the 100 year storm. Outflow for storms up to the 100 year storm are contained within the outlet control works and a 6" freeboard is provided to the top of berm. CONCLUSION: This project is in compliance with the City of College Station Stormwater Design Standards. I have included vertical control for the drive however I am not sure what datum your surveyor is using. I recommend that the elevation of the gutter line of the drive at the right-of-way be a minimum of 0.5 feet higher that the gutter line of the street. I have proposed 15 foot returns and the City plans show a 20' radius return. A 20' radius return is fine with me. If you have any questions please call.
