The parameters used for the design of the proposed conditions of the on- site area are incorporated to show how the final drainage design will accomplish the desired drainage objectives per the City of College Station Drainage Policy and Design Standards (DPDS.) GENERAL LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION: The site is located in southern College Station, on Navarro Drive approximate 300' N .E. of the intersection of Wellborn Rd. (FM 2154) and Navarro Drive. The site is generally open with small clusters of trees throughout, and generally drains to the north. The terrain is gentle with average slopes between 0.5% and 1.0%. The south fork of Bee Creek Tributary Bis located north of the site . FLOOD HAZARD INFORMATION: This property is not in a 100-Year Flood Hazard Area according to the Flood Insurance Rate Maps for Brazos County, Texas and Incorporated Areas, effective July 2, 1992, prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the City of College Station (See Exhibit "A"). DRAINAGE REPORT STEEPLECHASE 7 DRAINAGE FACILITY DESIGN: Storm water from the site will be captured in the curbs and gutters and conveyed to the two . detention ponds . Both detention facilities will be located in the northern portion of the site . Storm water from the detention ponds will be discharged into an existing 2 7" RCP Outfall that was constructed with Steeplechase Phase 2. The water is conveyed by the existing Steeplechase storm drain syst em to the detention pond for Phases 1, 2 , and 3 . The point where the flow is combined between the two detention facilities will serve as Study Point A for this project. Exhibit "C-1" shows the rational calculations for the various drainage areas corresponding to the Drainage Area Map (Exhibit B-1 ). Exhibit "C-2" shows the inlet computations . Exhibit "C-3" shows the ·pipe size calculations for the storm drain. DRAINAGE DESIGN CRITERIA: All drainage is in accordance with the City DPDS. The design rainstorm is the 10 year event. Flow calculations for all drainage areas are based on the Rational Method. Manning's Roughness Coefficient "n" is 0.014 per the DPDS. The storage volume required for the detention facilities is based on a triangular hydrograph routing of the flows .(base = 3* Tc). The detention ponds serve to detain all design storms below the design capacity of the existing 27" RCP Outfall. The capacity of this pipe was determined to be 22.3 cfs by the Drainage Report for Steeplechase Subdivision dated November 1998 and Revised February 1999. Exhibit E-1 shows these calculations. Exhibits "D-1 ", "D-2", and "D-3" show the routing and hydrograph plots for the 5,10, 25, 50, and 100 year events for Detention Pond #1 , Detention Pond #2, and the combination of the two at Study Point A, respectively. DRAINAGE REPORT STEEPLECHASE 7 2 Design Event Detention Pond #1 Detention Pond #2 Combined (Peak Discharge) (Peak Di scharge) (Peak Disc harge) Q s 10.9 cfs 3.7 cfs 14.6 cfs Qi o 12.1 cfs 4.1 cfs 16.0 cfs Q 25 13.6 cfs 4.5 cfs 18 .0 cfs Q so 15 .2 cfs 5.0 cfs 20 .0 cfs Qi oo 16 .8 cfs 5.5 cfs 22.l cfs Ta bl e I Detention Pond # 1 is metered by a 15" by 20" opening in inlet #2, and Detention Pond #2 is metered by a 1 O" by 1 O" opening in inlet #3. The outflow from the ponds is combined at point A, which corresponds to the discharge from inlet #3. CONCLUSION: As shown in Table 1, the combination of flows from Detention Pond #1 and #2 for all storm events is less thari the design capacity of the 27" outfall line ; therefore, the existing Steeplechase storm drain system will adequately serve this new development without its capacity being exceeded. The drainage design for this site meets the requirements as stated in the City of College Station Drainage Policy and Design Standards.
