This hydrant will provide fire coverage to the Baja Grill which consists of 5,737 sq.ft. of restaurant area (3,913-indoor dinning, 1,024-covered patio, 800-courtyard). Construction materials and methods, for this building, will be classified as 'fype 2A Per Appendix B & C of the 2000 International Fire Code, a fire flovr of 1,750 gprii from one fire hydrant is required (see attached). \: .-- At the request of this office, CoCS PUD performed a flow t est on the subject fire hydrant on April 19, 2004. The flow test yielded a residual pressure of 108 psi at a flow o 1,455 ~m (see attached). Therefore, it is determined that this hydrant and the water distri u ·on system will adequately provide the required flow without falling below the TCEQ minimum fire flow pressure of20 psi . The drainage area for this curb inlet will generally consist of both lots 2RA and 2RC, with the exception of the back half of the Gateway Retail Center. Thus the drainage area is estimated at 0 .79 acres. Using the Rational Method (Q=CIA), the following hydrologic runoff values were calculated: Known: A= 0 . 79 acres Cw=0.85 Tc < 10 minutes Calculated: Q2 = 4.3 cfs Qs = 5 .2 cfs Q10 = 5.8 cfs Q2s = 6 .7 cfs Qso = 7.5 cfs Q100 = 7.9 cfs These calculated runoff valves and the proposed geometry of the curb inlet where applied to Figure V-1 of the CoCS Drainage Policy and Design Standards. The graphical results yield that during the 100-year rainfall event the depth of flow would be approximately 9". Thus proposed curb inlet having a 4' wide opening with a 12" recess would accommo~~~~~ijAe of runoff during all analyzed rainfall events (see attached detail). · Please do not hesitate to call should you have any questions.
