The reconstruction of the sign at Culpepper Plaza is for the purpose
of repairing wind damage. The external configuration of the com-
pleted work will be the same as the existing sign.
The sign is non-conforming due to size and height limitations imposed
after the structure was permitted. The height of the sign is 47 feet,
whereas the allowable height is now 35 feet. The area is now 1034
square feet as opposed to 825 square feet allowable.
The work consists of redesign and reconstruction of parts of the sup-
porting structure and thus is more than ordinary minor repairs which
we could allow without action of the Board.
The contractor informs me that the cost of the work is less than 60
per-cent of the current value o f the sign. Because of recent major
increases in costs of such signs, his is about the only reliable
appraisal o f current values in my opinion.

The Zoning Board of Adjustment will consider a request for
the rebuilding of a non-conforming use from J. Culpepper,
Culpepper Plaza, at their called meeting in the Municipal
Courtroom of the new College Station Police and Muncipal
Court Building at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 1978,
the nature of the meeting being as follows:
The applicant requests a variance for the rebuilding of the
nonconforming use (Culpepper Plaza sign) requirement of the
Zoning Ordinance due to safety considerations.

tant to the City Manager of the City of College Station ,
696-8868.
