I move to authorize a variance to the sign regulations from the
terms of this ordinance as it will not be contrary to the public
interest due to the following unique special conditions not
generally found within the City :

The applicant wishes to add a 11 Drive-Thru Service 11 logo to
an existing non-conforming sign . Drive-'Vhru s e rvice has been
imitated since the original sign was constructed. The esti-
mated cost of the addition is $900, or 12% of the percent
value of the existing sign .
The existing sign exceeds the height and area limit for its
setback (Ord. 1056, adopted Dec . 9, 1976).

(l) I n order for the Bo<.1rJ tu consider a case , thece must be on file a
co::ipler.e applic;:i tion for a building p~rmit which lt .:.i s been rejected .by the
Building Official and a completed "Request for VarLrnce" ~pplication.
I f some uni que circumstance renders a full design impractical. and if
the Board consen ts, the appeal may be based on a decision rendered in writing
by the Building Official in reply to the applic;:int's written inquiry as to the
effect of ;:i particular zoning requirement on a proposed plan. A co~plete
'application for v a riance must also be filed along with any drawings or data
necessary to show the nature and e x tent of the variance~.
(2) There will be no item placed on the Board agenda nor any notice
published until all of the materials mentioned above are complete and in
hand. We provide no materials to the Board in support of a variance except
that which we receive from the applicant and can reproduce in-house (8 1/2 x
14 max size, line work).

(a) The building department will fill in the date of the hearing
and the date of notification.
(b) The applicant will fill out the rest of the . form.

(d) The names and addresses must be as they appear on City tax

(a) The building department will assist you in finding the zoning
of the tract, identifying the section of the ordinance and
specifying the variation.
(b) The remaining three section address themselves to the three
findings that the Board I!!ust make in order to grant a variance.
If the Board cannot agree with any one of these, they will not
be able to grant the variance.
(c) The application will be sent to the Building Official, City
Eng i neer and Fire Marshal for comment on any .facts within their
knowledg e which nay bear on the case.
(5) ~otice of the hearing will be published on t he Wednesday p receeding
the neeting and will be ~ailed by the building department to the owners
within 200 feet-The co ~plete application must be received by the close
of business on the Monday preceeding the date of publication in order for us
to meet the publisher's deadline.

to reflect points of the discussion pertinent to the decisions rendered.
