The Zoning Board of Adjustment of the City of College Station will
consider an appeal from Mr. Tom Chaney at their called meeting in
the Council Room in the College Station City Hall at 7:30 p.m. on
Tuesday, January 18, 1977, the facts of the case being as follows:
The applicant appeals from a decision of the Building Official that
the construction of additional seperate cooking facilities in a
dwelling constitutes a seperate dwelling unit.

Dear Mr. Koehler :
The propose~ addition to my home at 404 Fairview is to
be used as a residence for my mother-in-law (Mrs. B.L. Atchison),
so that she can have semi-private housing rather than living in
our house proper. The design was so planned as to allow no
outside entrance and access only through a portion of our home,
realizing that a future vacancy by her or other ownership, might
allow a separate renting of this addition. I request that a
building permit be issued for this addition and in future similar
cases that a duplex designation be based on external entry rather
than cooking facilities. This guideline would also allow a single home
to have a coffee bar in a master suite or guest area.
