In my opinion its nonconformance is necessary in that in the particular area it
is a necessity to proper advertising. So that I feel the permit should have been
ranted.

Th i s varianc e i s necessary due t o the following unique and special c onditions
of t he land n ot f ound in like d i stricts:
The building was constructed before bUilding codes were initiated . Existing signs
are at the edge of the overhang approximately 7 ft . from property line . I f my sign
was extended 3 ft. behind the existing signs it would not be visible to any
advantage. The sign was previously posted at the edge until it was repai nted.
Th e followin g alternat ives to the requested variance are possible: The alternative
to move the sign back would make it visible only to someone standing directly in
front of it at some dista nce off , which is not acceptable with the large amount
of signs already in the area .
Thi s v ari anc e will no t be con t rary to t h e pu blic interest by virtue of the following
f acts : The sign would be in accordance with safety measures when it is secured and
would be flush with the existing signs in the business district . It would be no
more outsta nding than the others . Being a small business woman the need .for
the sign is essentia l in promoting my business and needs the best display possible .
