REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
OCTOBER 14, 1982
Agenda Item No. 6 -CONSENT AGENDA:
BIDS: Old City Maintenance Yard Demolition Project.
PLATS: Final plat -Villas of Chimney Hill.
All items were approved by Common Consent.
Agenda Item No. 7 -Consideration of an Ordinance vacating a utility
easement in the Sweet Briar Addition in the City of College Station.

Director of Capital Improvements Ash presented the item. He stated that
application is in the name of Carl Dahlstrom. All utility companies have
granted permission to vacate the easement.
After further discussion regarding vacating the entire easement, Councilman
Jones moved to approve Ordinance No. 1385 vacating the ten foot easement in
the Sweet Briar Addition only until future requests are made for additional
abandonment.
Councilman Nemec seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Agenda Item No. 8 -Consideration of an Ordinance amending the College
Station City Code, relating to personnel policies.
City Attorney Denton stated that the council committee met to review the
revised personnel policies and recommended that the final copy be approved.
He indicated that he reviewed the legal aspects of the policy and
recommended approval of the policy as proposed. He included that he would
have future information for the policy at the beginning of 1983.
Councilman Prause moved to approve Ordinance No. 1386 adopting the
personnel policy.
Councilman Nemec seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Agenda Item No. 9 -Consideration of claim for damages to mailbox at 1204
Glade.
City Attorney Denton presented the item and a proposed Resolution to the
council. The Resolution would allow the City Attorney to determine the
payment of uninsured claims of less than $250.00 without Council approval
and submit reports to the council of such payments. He explained that if
this Resolution passes, he will be authorized to pay for the $50.00 mailbox
which was destroyed in an accident by a College Station Police Officer.
Councilman Jones moved approval of Resolution No. 10-14-82-9.
Councilman Prause seconded the motion which passed unanimously.

AN ORDINANCE VACATING A IDRTION OF A TEN (10) FOOT WIDE UTILI'IY EASEMENT,
R.EX)RDED ON THE PIAT OF THE SWEET BRIAR ADDITION IN THE CI'IY OF (X)I..J.ffiE
STATION, R.EX)RDED IN VOUJME 286, PAGE 359, DEED R.EX)RDS OF BRAZOS CDUNTY,
TEXAS.
Sa id utility easement being ITDre particularyly described as follows:
BEING a ten (10) foot strip on the north side of Lot 10, Block 1 of the
Sweetbriar Addition and running the length of the lot.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Colle ge Station, Texas that:
WHEREAS, it has cane to the attention of the City Council of the City of
College Station that there is a ten foot easement for utilities reserved fran
the developer to the City of College Station; and
WHEREAS, said easement is not neede d and will not be needed in thefiture;
WHEREAS, the present property owner is desirous of adding said easement to
his present lots, fran which it was taken;
IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED AND ORDAINED that such easement be vacated and that
the Mayor and City Secretary by authorized to release on behalf of the City
of College Station any right or claim which the City has in and to said
easement.
PASSED AND APPROVED THIS THE 14th DAY OF October ' 1982.

This variance is necessary due to the following unique and special conditions of
the land not found in like districts:
Propose to use the exising 12 11 wide masonary wall as part of
the enclosure sb that the entire deck surrounding the pool would be --------
insect free.
The following alternatives to the requested variance are possible:

This variance wi l l not be contrary to the public interest by virtue of the following
f~ct~: The area is already surr e unded by a 6' hjgb masa.n.ry wall and
with the mansard type construction of the screen enclosure would
hardly he noticable. Also there is a storage type building on the
adjo~ning lot that backs up to the exisin g masonry wall and runs the
entire len gth of the wall. See attached sheet.
