CITY OF COLLEGE STATION POST OFFICE BOX 9960 11 01 TEXAS AVENUE COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS 77840 May 8, 1975 MEMORANDUM TO: Zoning Board o.f Adjustment Deputy Building Official ~~ FROM: SUBJECT: Meeting of May 13, 1975 1. Appeal and variance, A. P. Boyett, Sr. The applicant has requested a building permit for a detached sign to be mounted on a sign base which is approximately 8 1/2 feet from the front property line. The sign to be put on the base will project toward the street. An existing canopy on the adjacent property is nearer to the street than the proposed sign. The building permit has been refused, and the refusal is forwarded to the Board on appeal with a request for variance whether or not the decision is upheld. The City Attorney has determined that this is the correct procedure for the Board's consideration of any variance; a building permit should be applied for and refused and any variance must be on appeal. In this way, when the Board grants a variance, they will have before them the building permit which will be issued. 2. Appeal and variance, Susan Mathis. The applicant has requested a building permit for a sign to be mounted on the edg e of an existing marque. The sign would be approximately 7 feet from the front property line. Signs on the two adjacent buildings are located on the edge of the marque. The permit has been refused but could be granted if the sign were moved back.
