Planned Parenthood Cente r s are private educational programs for the general public services, by appointment to th e ir patients. procedures are not perform ed at the Center. non-profit organi zations providi ng and family planning counseling a nd Patients are all healthy and su rg ical The staff includes two Registered Nurse Practitione r s and three sup port persons. A physician is th e Medical Director and spends 4-6 hours per week a t the Center. Medical students from TAMU College of Medicine rotate throu gh t he Center as part of their community health experience. Planned Parenthood has operated a Center in the Northgate area for the past 6 years. The majority of their patients \<Jalk or bike from ca mpus or ne ar by apartments. It is expected that many of the same patients will bike or walk t o the new Center. Planned patient load is 4 per hour or 30 per day for an annual total of appro x imately 7500 patients. In 1980 the Center served 7,383 patients. Anticipated parking needs: (10 spaces total) 5 staff 4 patient (It is anticipated that there will be no more than two patients bein g served at one t i me a nd no more than two waiting) 1 visitor (Most of the appointments are made over the telephone. When tours are held, patients are not at the Center.) The Unitarian Fellowship has offered the regular use of three spaces in their parking area adjacent to the proposed parking for the Center (see copy of letter attached). The proposed site comprises a buildin~ that has been in existence more than -20 years that encroaches on the rear set-back line imposed under present code. With the alley in the rear, this has apparently caused no conflict or other hardship and none is anticipated. One of the unique features of the proposed site is its natural beauty provided by the many large oak trees on the property. Our primary goal in planning the need ed off-street parking is to do so with the least possible destruction to this attractive area. Alternatives to the proposed plan would necessitate needless devastation.
