Re: 4170 SH 6 South – Permit to Construct Access Driveway
Mr. Watson:
The subject driveway application has been reviewed. The following items are required for approval:
1. A condition of approval is that the existing drive to Wilson Plumbing be combined with the proposed
drive apron onto Barron Road. As discussed, there is a 50' x 50' Access Easement on the Wilson
Plumbing property adjacent to the proposed drive location. It is apparent that the original intention as
well as the current ordinance would require only one drive apron connecting to Barron Road in this
vicinity. So, either the proposed drive should connect to the existing Wilson Plumbing driveway or the
existing Wilson Plumbing apron should be should be closed (i.e. – removed and re- vegetated within the
street Right -of -Way) so that Wilson can connect to the proposed drive and apron.
2. Note the proposed drive (within the Right -of -Way) will be in accordance with the attached detail (i.e. –
6 inch thick concrete, #3 rebars on 18 inch centers each way, 20 - 30 foot radii, saw -cut curb and gutter
with 18 inch long 3/4 inch diameter doweled expansion joints, etc.) See attachment.
3. From a visual inspection of the site, it appears that the existing berm of the adjacent detention pond may
extend into the subject property where the drive is proposed. Additional detail of how this will be
resolved should be addressed.
With regard to a future median opening on Barron Road, the permitting process included. As I mentioned to
you previously, median design criteria is currently an unresolved item of discussion in general which is slated
for Council input. The specific design and construction of the Barron Road improvements (and possible
median) in this vicinity is still tentatively 1 to 3 years out.
