Dear Mr. Nelson: Please find the following enclosed permit applications and set of drawings regarding the above referenced project: ® Permit to Construct Access Driveway Facilities - 5 applications The applicant has submitted a driveway permit for Lakeway Drive, Scott and White Drive, and the lift station driveway on SH 6 NB Frontage Rd., south of Rock Prairie Rd, The preliminary plat and the overall site plan for this development is currently under review by the City. The applicant will be required to construct a deceleration lane for Lakeway Dr and Scott and White Dr on SH 6 Frontage Rd based on the City's Unified Development Ordinance. The requirement is for any development's proposed access that generates 25 vph in the peak hour right turn movement ingress for roadways posted 40 mph or higher. With regards to the deceleration lane the applicant's deceleration lane lengths are deficient. Based on TxDOT's design manual table 3-3 and based on a 55 MPH posted speed with a 10 mph differential for 45 mph design criteria the length of the deceleration lane plus storage is 455 feet. This adds up to the following: 30' minimum storage length and 425' deceleration length. A 100' taper is included in the deceleration length. The applicant presently has a total of 260' deceleration lane that includes a 75' foot taper. Other comments include the City's preference for a raised median directional island in the driveways for Scott and White Dr and Lakeway Dr. Home of Texas A&M University Please review this submittal at your earliest convenience and return three signed copies of the permit for our distribution.
