RE: SANITARY SEWER AVAILABILITY
8613 Rock Prairie
College Station, TX 77845
Mr. Plitt,
The site referenced above lies within the limits of College Station in an area that is not currently served by an
organized gravity sewer system. According to our records, the closest public sanitary sewer line is beyond the
distance required for connection by ordinance, at this time.
City ordinance states, "Owners of buildings coming within the terms of this subsection and located on acreage
tracts shall be required to install a water closet or water closets and connect same to the sewer if the said
building at its nearest point is within two hundred fifty feet (250') from the sewer." Since this site falls outside
the maximum distance for connection, it will not be required to tie -into the public sewer system at this time and
an OSSF is permissible. The site will be required to tie -into the public sewer should it become available.
The general process for Existing structures replacing Septic Systems includes:
1. Developer contacts City to review site including lot size is a minimum of 1 acre outside of floodplain and
general floodplain requirements
2. City to issues this Floodplain Letter to County acknowledging if site is acceptable
3. Developer to submit septic plans with Floodplain Letter with Soil and Site Evaluation submitted to Brazos
County Health Department
4. Health Department issues an Authorization to Construct (ACT) the septic system to Developer
5. Developer submits ACT to City
6. Developer's plumber applies to City for Plumbing Only Permit
7. City inspects all applicable plumbing including open trench sewer connection and comments or approves
construction
Should you have any questions or require further information, please contact me.
Sincerely, N
