Final inspections are required along with Backflow testing. LAWN IRRIGATION SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS BUILDING INSPECTION DIVISION INSPECTION REQUEST LINE (979) 764-3741 • FAX (979) 764-3814 1101 TEXAS AVE., COLLEGE STATION, TX 77840 NOTE: An irrigation permit and inspection are required for all lawn irrigation systems. 1. General Instructions The potable water supply to lawn irrigation shall be protected against backflow by one of the following devices: An atmospheric -type vacuum breaker A pressure -type vacuum breaker A reduced pressure principle backflow preventer, or A double check valve assembly A double check valve assembly shall not be used to protect against backflow on lawn irrigation systems where chemical injection systems are present. All devices shall be installed per the manufactures' installation instructions. The City of College Station requires backflow devices to be tested by a state certified backflow assembly tester that has registered with the City. Installation of Double Check Valve Assemblies Below Grade Double check valve assemblies (DCVA) are permitted for below grade installations provided they are installed in a vault or other approved enclosure which is constructed of a durable material.
