Contractor shall submit a complete wall design and manufacturer's erection procedures to the Engineer/Owner at least 14 days prior to start of work. B. For walls over 3 feet in total height where professional engineering design is not required, Contractor shall submit chart design or computer analysis demonstrating that the wall is properly designed and all design considerations have been addressed. C. Contractor shall submit Proctor maximum density values and in - place density test reports to the Engineer verifying compaction is being achieved and reinforced soil zone material is within specified gradation and plasticity limits. PART 3: EXECUTION 3.01 Construction Supervision A. The Contractor's field construction supervisor shall have demonstrated experience and be qualified to direct all work related to KEYSTONE construction at the site. 3,02 Excavation & Contractor shall excavate to the lines and grades shown on the approved design plans. Contractor shall take precautions to minimize over -excavation and maintain safe slopes per OSHA requirements. 3.03 Foundation Soll Preparation A. Foundation soil shall be excavated as required for base course leveling pad dimensions and limits of the reinforced soil zone as shown on the construction drawings or as directed by the Engineer. B. The foundation excavation shall be examined by the Engineer to assure that the actual foundation condition rneets or exceeds the assumed design conditions. Foundation conditions not meeting required strength shall be removed and replaced with well - compacted soll meeting the design criteria, as directed by the Engineer. 0.04 • Leveling Pad Preparation A. A leveling pad of compacted granular material shall be placed as shown on the construction drawings to a minimum 6 inches depth [alternatively, a compacted free dralning granular material shall be placed as shown on the construction drawings to a minimum of 4 inches, with 2 inches of leveling concrete placed on the top surface]. B. The base shall be compacted to provide a firm, level bearing pad on which to place the first course of units. Compaction will be with mechanical plate compactors to 95% of maximum standard Proctor density (ASTM D 698). [where a concrete pad is used, the pad shall be screeded to within +/- 1116 of design elevation]. C. Concrete for leveling pad construction shall be a minimum compressive strength of 2000 psi concrete 0 28 days. 3.05 KEYSTONE and Reinforcement Placement A. All KEYSTONE units and soil reinforcement shall be installed at the proper elevation and orientation as shown in the approved construction plans or as directed by the Engineer. The KEYSTONE units and geosynthetic reinforcement shall be installed In general accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, Any conflict between the two requirements shall be resolved by the Engineer. B. Completed wall erection shall be within ±1 1/4", measured over a 10' distance, In either a horizontal or vertical direction compared to the design line and grade control. C. Tracked construction equipment shall not be operated directly on the geosynthetic reinforcement. A minimum backfill thickness of 6 inches Is required prior to operation of tracked vehicles over the geosynthetic reinforcement, Turning of tracked vehicles should be kept to a minimum to prevent tracks from displacing the fill and damaging the geosynthetic reinforcement. D. Rubber -tired equipment may pass over the geosynthetic reinforcement, If in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, at slow speeds less than 10 mph. Sudden braking and sharp turning should be avoided. 3.07 Drainage Placement A.
