The purpose of this inspection was to identify Asbestos Containing Building Materials (ACBM) used in the construction or past renovations of the lease space and prepare a report documenting the findings prior to renovation in compliance with the Texas Asbestos Health Protection Rules §295.34 and NESHAP 40 CFR §61.145. The survey consisted of inspecting a one story lease space. Suspect building materials consisted of gypsum board and ceiling tiles. The inspection was conducted by Douglas C. Beckner, TDH Licensed Consultant #10-5395. Fifteen (15) samples were collected and submitted for analysis by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) by CA Labs L.L.C. a NVLAP accredited and licensed laboratory located at 11800 Industriplex, Suite 5 in Baton Rouge, LA 70809, TDH Licensed # 30-0256 (license attached). Samples were analyzed by EPA method 600/R-93/116 July 1993 for determination of asbestos in bulk samples, with percentage compositions based on approximate area compositions viewed under a microscope. As a result of this inspection, no materials were determined to be asbestos containing in the one story lease space occupied by Texas Cookie Cutters & Deli located at 900 Harvey Road, Suite 5B in College Station, Texas 77840. Bernstein Invab" nts Pit 200"" For this survey, the following suspect building materials were sampled: • Nonfliable 12-in. x 12-in. floor tiles with yellow mastic, no damage, • Friable 24-in. x 48-in. oeftg tiles, no damage, and • Nonitiable wallboard (gypsum/Sheetmck) with dry wan joint compound and paint, no damage. Ssmpting. Suspect asbestos- containing bmlding menials (ACBNO are classified as s ofacirrg thermal or miscellmreow materials. Sampling during the field investigation included the collection of nine bulk samples of suspect mlrcellaneow mauruils. Table 1 presents details of the bulk sample type and location. All samples were collected in a u an ter that reduced the potential for fiber release and exposure, using amended water and personal protective equipment where necessary. After recovery, samples were placed in secure containers for transport to a laboratory. Appropriate chains of aLoody protocols were initiated at this time. Sampling of glass and brick were not included as part of this survey. Laboratory Analyses Bulk samples were analyzed by a trained anayst using Polarized Light Microscopy according to the US EPA interim Method for the Determination of Asbestos. This technique characterizes the material's refractive indices, fiber morphology, birefringence, extinction angle, and sign of elongation, and dispersion staining colors to detect asbestos. Percentage compositions are based on approximate area compositions under a stereomiamscope. The results of the bulk sample analyses are given in Table 1. Laboratory analyses results show no asbestos being detected m the suspect building materials sampled within the lease space. Original laboratory bulk sample test results are presented at the end of this report. Conclusions Based on results of the laboratory analysis, no asbestos is present in the suspect building materials sampled within the lease space located at 900 Harvey, Smite 6, in the Post Oak Village Shopping Center, is College Station, Texas. Limitations This report presents the results of the asbestos sampling performed for the lease space located at goo Harvey, Suite 6, in College Station, Texas. This report descnbes only conditions present at the time of my survey m the areas surveyed. Destructive sampling procedures were not used or authorized This survey was conducted using standard principles and practices, and the scope of this report is limited to the matters expressively covered.
