Sounds like a correct reading of the new sewer design guidelines!

Bob -
I am reviewing sanitary sewer line construction documents submitted for Liberty Subdivision off SH6 and
Southwest Parkway. They need to extend the public sewer approximately 170 feet, all of which will be
less than 3.5' cover. The Unified Design Guidelines, Pipe Alignment - Vertical Layout call for ductile iron
pipe for covers less than the desired 6', and possible cement stabilized sand backfill for covers less than
3.5'. I will be requiring the ductile iron pipe. Do you concur that the pipe shall be backfilled with cement
stabilized sand? The line is at the end of the sewer shed.
