These numbers are based on data reported by the "Santa Fe New Mexican" on February 16, 2001. They were taken from report titled "Water Use in Santa Fe" produced by the city's planning de (See table) p g partment. The table proves once more what we, carwash operators, new all along, namely that commercial carwashes, as an industry, are far from being major users and compare favorably with other business establishments. - ss It is interesting to note that the water consumption found for full service car washes is the same as the average of my two car washes. This works out to about 50 gallons per car, including all incidentals, such as toilets, washing towels, cleaning of the lot and watering landscaping. The article did not report on other possible medium and large users, such as: Laundromats, sport clubs and gyms, commercial bakeries, nurseries, commercial laundries, soft drink bottling plants and manufacturing plants. It would have been interesting to include these type of users in the tabulation. However armed with just the published numbers, we can be well prepared to inform the public, the bureaucrats and the politicians, how we as an industry stack up with other business. Once this is clear, all we have to do is ask to be treated like any other industry. . These numbers are based on data reported by the "Santa Fe New Mexican" on February 16, 2001. They were taken from report titled "Water Use in Santa Fe" produced by the city's planning department. (See table) The table proves once more what we, carwash operators, new all along, namely that commercial carwashes, as an industry, are far from being major users and compare favorably with other business establishments. It is interesting to note that the water consumption found for full service car washes is the same as the average of my two car washes. This works out to about 50 gallons per car, including all incidentals, such as toilets, washing towels, cleaning of the lot and watering landscaping. The article did not report on other possible medium and large users, such as: Laundromats, sport clubs and gyms, commercial bakeries, nurseries, commercial laundries, soft drink bottling plants and manufacturing plants. It would have been interesting to include these type of users in the tabulation. However armed with just the published numbers, we can be well prepared to inform the public, the bureaucrats and the politicians, how we as an industry stack up with other business. Once this is clear, all we have to do is ask to be treated like any other industry. 1.
