WATER REPORT
for
OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH
GENERAL INFORMATION
The proposed location for Our Savior's Lutheran Church is a 7.628 acre tract on
the northeast corner of Woodcreek Drive and the Earl Rudder Freeway frontage road.
The project calls for the construction of a sanctuary, a fellowship hall and two parking
lots. The site is bound by Woodcreek Drive to the south, the Woodcreek Subdivision to
the east, property owned by the East By -pass Development Group to the north and the
Earl Rudder Freeway frontage road to the west.
WATER SYSTEM ANALYSIS
The public water system that will serve this site is a 12" water line that exists
along Woodcreek Drive that serves the Woodcreek and Foxfire Subdivisions to the east.
It connects to an 18" line at the frontage road of the Earl Rudder Freeway.
The water system for the church project is a single 8" line that connects to the
existing 12" line on Woodcreek Drive and runs approximately 320 feet into the site. A
schematic diagram of the system is shown in Exhibit A. A single fire hydrant is provided
on this line that provides coverage to the new facility. The City of College Station
requires that a fire demand of 2500 gpm be used for analysis of the water system to
demonstrate that it can provide adequate flows during a fire. This flow rate can be split
between two adjacent fire hydrants. Since only one hydrant is proposed on the site, an
existing hydrant on Woodcreek Drive was included in the computer model of the system
Domestic water use rates were provided by the building architect. The estimated peak
use, which includes future buildings anticipated at the site, is 150 gpm
Computer modeling of the water system was conducted using the Kentucky Pipe
Network Analysis (KYPIPES). The City of College Station provided pressure test data
from a hydrant located on Amberwood Court, which was used to determine the elevation
of the pressure plane in the area. A copy of that report is shown in Exhibit B. A residual
pressure of 87 psi was found at the hydrant. Since that is the lowest pressure that is likely
to be realized in the existing system, it was used as the beginning pressure for the
computer model.
The output data of the computer model is shown in Exhibit C. It shows that the
lowest pressure in the system is 84 psi at Node 3. This pressure is well above the
minimum pressure of 20 psi allowed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality
(TCEQ) for fire flow conditions, and it exceeds the minimum pressure of 30 psi required
for static conditions.
Conclusion
Under the fire flow scenario described above, the water system provides pressures
that greatly exceed the minimum pressures. This demonstrates that the proposed
water system for Our Savior's Lutheran Church is of adequate size to meet static
and fire demands of the proposed buildings.
