Subject: SPRING CREEK TERRACE - VELOCITY OF OUTFALL PIPE
Attachments: SCT Detention Basin 36 -inch Outfall Pipe.pdf
Erika, attached find a graphic of the 36 -inch outfall pipe. In our meeting yesterday you asked about the
downstream velocity. It is 7.78 ft/sec at the Q100.
The outfall pipe is mitered with rock rip rap on each side. The water relaxes coming out of the pipe onto
the rock rip rap. Then the water falls 2.85 -feet on to a concrete outfall structure, travels 10 -feet across
concrete, then across 10 -feet of rock rip rap and then 25 -feet of American Excelsior Re- cyclex turf
reinforcement mat to the creek bottom.
When the discharge relaxes coming out of the mitered pipe and falls 2.85 -feet and spreads out 15 -feet
the energy will be fairly low.
If you have any questions please call.
Thanks
Mike
