Phase 4 has had a prime coat in preparation for HMAC which is anticipated to begin today. I have no further objections to accepting a financial guarantee for Phase 4. »> "Steve Arden" <s.darden @tca.net> 03/29/03 02:12PM »> Brett, Thanks for the Friday quick response indicating a misunderstanding on the request for early filing of the Edelweiss Gartens Phases 3 & 4 plats. In actuality, the City has an excess of funds to draw on should there be a need. Hopefully the following explanation will answer any questions and enable the filing of the phase 4 plat. Initially, a projection for Phases 3 & 4 was made for work to be completed after Friday, March 28th with the Young Contractors bid value attributed to that work to establish the Letter of Credit. As indicated in the March 14 letter from McClure engineering, the cost of the projected remaining work was $67,574.80. Unfortunately, rain delayed work on Phase 3, but resulted in work acceleration for the larger Phase 4. Since several days are required to obtain the Letter of Credit the amount was not reduced to reflect the now completed work in Phase 4 and the request to file the Phase 3 plat has been delayed due to the retarded progress. We do anticipate requesting the filing of the Phase 3 plat by Wednesday when work will be at the original projected point of March 28. At that time it is likely all work will be completed in phase 4 while the City will still have on deposit the $67,574.80 Letter of Credit, significantly more than the $7,500 cost of remaining Phase 3 work. As of Friday aftemoon, the work to complete Phase 4 was laying the HMAC surface, pouring 3 curb returns to inlet boxes and adjusting valves, fire hydrants, and manholes. Sidewalk installation was completed ahead of schedule which creates a $21,770 Letter of Credit excess. The cost of the HMAC surface is $28,734, cost of the curb retums approximately $400 each or $1,200, for a total of $29,934.08. As mentioned above, the City holds a Letter of Credit in the amount of $67,574.80. Surely, adequate security for the City to file the phase 4 plat. Please phone if additional explanation would be helpful. Wednesday afternoon, when at your offices on another matter I will deliver a check for estimated year -to -date taxes. Hopefully the City will be comfortable in then filing the park dedication. Work is progressing at a good pace in phases 3 & 4 and so by Friday or Monday work should reach the point of our being ready to file one or both of those plats. Vem Wright and I have estimated both time and money for the remaining completion for certain items. Those estimates were submitted earlier with the request for early filing of the plats. McClure will turn in those plats Wednesday anticipating work reaching the point of being able to file the plats Friday or Monday. I am staying in close touch with Vem to make sure he feels comfortable with the amount of the Letter of Credit and remaining work What have I omitted or forgotten? Thanks, Steve Arden CC: <dgrace @ci .college- station.tx.us>
