When I purchased my home in March of this year I looked at the demographics surrounding my biggest investment. When studying the layout of surrounding land I noticed that the land behind my house was zoned for R-1. My wife and I would have never purchased our house had we know that the land directly behind my house would be used for multifamily housing. The neighborhood is a wonderful quiet neighborhood that will be dramatically changed if the council changes the land to multifamily housing. I was looking forward to raising my newborn daughter in a neighborhood of homes instead of apartments. It is ironic that the developer Mr. Phillips waited until the lots he developed in Castle Rock were sold to pursue changing the zoning the adjacent land. Had he done this earlier the lots would not of sold at the price he set before. I am sick with the thought that my new home will LOSE VALUE with your decision to change zoning and profit Mr. Phillips. PLEASE take into consideration the residents in Castle Rock before granting the new zoning. He explained that he is going to pack the land with two story 1000 sq. foot 4 bed/ 1 bath government subsidized HUD housing. He followed by telling me that it was our fault and I have no idea the amount of traffic he is going to funnel through our neighborhood. I am very concerned about this and I would imagine this is not an acceptable solution to anyone in our neighborhood. Is their anything we can do to stop this from happening? Is this a possibility with the P&Z's recommendation to build HUD housing? I don't think anyone in our neighborhood would have a problem with whatever he wants to build if the two did not connect. The main entrance to anything he builds will be going right next to our children's park. The park is on a curved road and any additional cars will increase the dangers of something drastic happing. I understand the position of counsel to have "connect-ability" around the city but sometimes its better to have seclusion when dealing with heavy populated kids neighborhoods. I might be talking to the wrong person but this would all go away if the two developments were not connected. Also in talking to Mr. Phillips last night he expressed the same concerns that he wished the two did not connect.
