Zoning District: NG -1 Historic Northgate Location: 301 Church Applicant: Mike Record for the Arkitex Studio, Inc. Item Summary: The Tradition Dormitory was completed in 2001 with space left unfinished in the building so lease spaces could be finished to suit in the future. As part of the building improvements for a coffee shop, the applicant is proposing architectural interest at the door and signage in the window at an entrance from the Second Street Promenade. Around the door will be cement plaster that will match that currently existing on the building. The sign will be painted aluminum letters mounted on a stainless steel round bar above the door. Item Background: Tradition is a 790 -bed dormitory with a 398 -space parking garage. The facility was designed to be mixed use, with some commercial planned for the first floor. The project received NRB approval in 2000 and 2001. This is the first request for approval of site changes related to a commercial venture in the dorm. Issues /Items for Review: 1.
