GOLDEN CORRAL (SNFC) (02- 00500081)
All proposals involving site development or redevelopment in the Overlay Corridor
District shall require building color approval from the Project Review Committee (PRC).
Zoning District: C -B Commercial Business
Location: 700 University Drive
Applicant: Texas Neon Advertising Company
Item Summary: The applicant is proposing to remove the existing frame of the
freestanding sign and replace it with a new one. When the sign frame is replaced, the
sign will have to be lowered to a height no taller than the height of the building to come
into compliance with the regulations of the overlay district. The new frame for the sign
will be a 66" x 10'2 9/16" aluminum cabinet with "Golden Corral" in exposed neon
tubing and the tag line being internally illuminated. The existing marquee will be moved
closer to the sign frame on the pole to maintain the 150 s.f. size requirement. The pole
cover is to remain the same. The ordinance allows for no more than three colors on a
freestanding sign in the overlay district, one of which must match the predominant color
of the building. The applicant is proposing more than three colors, none of which match
the building.
The applicant is also proposing to replace the tag lines on the two existing attached
signs. The tag lines will be in an aluminum cabinet that is internally illuminated. There
will be two colors on the attached signs.
