HomeMy WebLinkAboutCorrespondenceThe Methodist Student Center although in the vicinity of the A &M Methodist
Church is not affiliated with the church but instead is the center for all local
Methodist college students. The center would like to construct a 6 foot sidewalk
adjacent to the back of curb along Tauber to provide a nice walking surface
between University Drive and Church Street for not only their students but also for
students in the Northgate residential area who walk to campus and cross at the
signal at Tauber and University Drive. Due to limited funds, the Methodist
Student Center is requesting to construct this infill sidewalk of plain grey concrete
rather than the Northgate stamped colored concrete sidewalk. The reasons behind
this request are:
• the surrounding sidewalks are all plain grey and this section would
look out of place as stamped colored,
• the adjacent sidewalks are all in good condition and won't need to
be replaced in the near future
• the likelihood of Aggieland Credit Union redeveloping and
therefore the existing sidewalk being replaced as stamped colored is
slim
• the likelihood of the A &M United Methodist Church Sanctuary
being remodeled along Tauber Street thus requiring a rework of the
existing sidewalk is slim (it is more likely that if the sanctuary is
expanded it would be on the Lodge Street side of the building).
We understand that this request must be forwarded to the Design Review Board
for their approval. We appreciate your help with this project.
If yoµ have any questions or need any further information please give us a call.
