Variance Request for Directional Signs (St. Joseph Facility)
Special Conditions / Hardship:
Because of such a large campus, and the nature of a medical facility...
Directional Signs D4, 5, 6, and 7 have important information on them that will be
very restrictive in their effectiveness if allowed only the 3sf face area and 50%
graphics allowance.
The information is important and could be critical in controlling and directing traffic
around the St Joseph campus for staff and patients. Clear Directions and Legibility
cannot be over emphasized for a Medical Facility of this nature, especially in
emergency situations.
The campus is planning to add additional building/s which will only exaggerate the
need for these larger Directionals.
We are also requesting (1) additional directional (DS) in lieu of the (3) allowed by
the code. We feel it is necessary for good traffic flow for such a large campus.
