SUBJECT: Chicken Express: The proposal of the attached Chicken Express slgnage
located In the Exxon shopping center at 804 Earl Rudder Freeway South
(01-160)
The PRC held a meeting on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 to review the above-
mentioned project. Staff Planner Hitchcock began the discussion by presenting the
Board with color samples the applicant supplied. Staff Planner Hitchcock stated that
the applicant's proposal is that the red in the sign will match the red brick in building.
Commissioner Mooney asked if there are one or two signs to consider. Staff Planner
Hitchcock stated there are two signs. Commissioner Mooney asked if the signs are also
lighted in the back. Mr. Norsworthy replied yes. Commissioner Harris motioned to
approve and Commissioner Happ seconded. Commissioner Mooney asked how this
sign compares to the Subway sign. Mr. Norsworthy stated the Chicken Express sign is a
little larger as far as the height. Commissioner Mooney clarified that applicants in this
overlay district can only have 2 attached signs. Staff Planner Hitchcock stated it is only
for gas stations and they couldn't be more restrictive than what the ordinance.
Commissioner Mooney called the question of all those in favor. The motion passed 3-0.
