Subject: Conditional Use Permit for Water Transfer Pump Station
Dear Ms. George:
Enclosed you will find the completed application form, site plan, and landscape plan for the City of
College Station's application for a Conditional Use Permit for a Water Transfer Pump Station, to be
located at 100 Tarrow Street. This is a resubmittal of the original CUP application that was denied in
February 2001 by the Planning and Zoning Commission.
McClure Engineering Inc., in association with Camp Dresser & McKee, performed an engineering
study, "Technical Memorandum: City of College Station West Side Utilities Study" in 1999. This
study evaluated three potential locations for a water transfer pump station, and recommended that the
pump station be located at 29 b and Tarrow Street along Burton Creek. This water transfer pump
station is needed for College Station to be able receive water from the City of Bryan in emergency
conditions, and to be able to provide water to the City of Bryan should they need it under emergency
conditions. As you can see from the attached graph, having a permanent pumped water interconnect
with the City of Bryan such as the one proposed is vital during the peak water demand months, in
addition to other times of the year.
We will make every effort to be sensitive to the needs of neighboring property owners during this
process. To that end, we have proposed a landscape plan to mitigate potential negative impacts and
provide visual screening from the proposed office complex.
Should you have any questions about the attached information, please contact me at 764-3432 or
email dscheper@ci.college-station.tx.us.
Sincerely,
Dale Schepers
