Staff: Natalie Ruiz, Todd McDaniel, Shirley Volk and Pete Vanecek On Wednesday, September 17, 1997, the NRB met with Diane Craig of Brazos Beautiful and reviewed a plan for planters to be placed in the Northgate area focusing mainly on University Drive between Lodge and Boyett Streets. The proposal is for 16 planters varying in size from 3' - 4' in diameter. The Board reached a consensus. that the following items should be addressed: Check on the possibility of utilizing metal planters (like the ones used on Commerce Street in Austin). .Staff should check the availability of metal planters, colors and cost differences between the metal and concrete planters. ® The planters should be a bronze color to match the existing street furniture. The NRB must review and approve. the actual. colored concrete samples. The color ® should be integral to the concrete and not painted. The locations of the planters should be field verified to address the following concerns: Possible sight distance problems. _ Compliance with Americans .with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Possible conflicts with existing handicap ramps and minimum clearance. requirements. _ The proximity of the planters to the parallel parking spaces .along University Drive. The planters should be placed so that cars parked in the parallel spaces can get in and out of the vehicle. Staff agreed to address these concerns and come back to the NRB for further review. r N alie omas Ruiz Planning Technician September 22, 1997
