#3. Explanation of Use: Wireless cellular telephone communications
facility. The .facility will transmit and receive cellular telephone
communication signals for customers in the area surrounding the site.
The facility will operate 24 .hours a day, 7 days a week. The
facility is unmanned and requires traffic only for periods of
maintenance and. routine service. Site is available for maintenance
by all GTE Mobilnet employees.
#4. No sign will be placed at the facility.
* The proposed project is to be located on a triangular shaped piece of
land fronting on the west side of Hwy. 6 near the southern end of the
City of College Station. The area is projected commercial use in the
city's Comprehensive Plan and the proposed use by GTE Mobilnet is
compatible with the Plan. The adjacent properties (4) are as follows:
1. oilfield service company
2. City-af Coll_ege Station. .(electric supply facility)
3. vacant land (proposed commercial on City Plan)
4. Hwy. 6
The proposed use of the property is commercial, as is the adjacent
property and will provide improved cellular telephone communications
service to the surrounding area. The facility will be built to codes
as required by the City of College Station, the FCC, the FAA plus other
governmental agencies with authority over communication facilities
and tower installations. The facility is licensed and regulated by
the FCC and does not pose a threat to the health, welfare or safety
of the surrounding area. There is no residential neighborhood
within 500 ft. of the site.
