2. All concrete driveway and parking pavement to be low
slump, 3000 psi compressive strength.
3. Driveways and parking areas shall be partially excavated
and replaced with structural fill for a depth of 6 1no
4. Compaction of the structural fill shall be at a moisture
content equal to or less than 4 percent above optimum
moisture. Density should be at least 95 percent of the
maximum dry density as determined by the standard P,octor
compaction test, ASTM D 698.
5. The concrete should have a maximum water/cement ratio
0.4 lb/lb of cement and have a minimum 28 day compressive
strength of 3000 psi. If fly ash is used in the concrete,
the replacement percentage should not exceed 20 percent of
the total cementitious material.
6. The concrete pavement sections should be divided by a
system of construction joints at a maximum center-to-center
spacing of 20 ft. ea'ch way. The joints should be "keyed" and
"slip-doweled" with dowels placed 18 in. apart. Expansion
joints should replace the construction joints at a maximum
center-to-center spacing of 60 ft.
7. Steel reinforcement for the proposed sections should
consist of No.3 bar steel reinforcement on 18 in. centers
each way. Plastic chairs should be used to insure that the
reinforcement is centered within the slab section.
8. All concrete to be protected from freezing during first
(7) days curing.
9. Cuts for driveway approaches, concrete curb, gutter and
paving construction to meet city street engineering
requirements.
10. Parking stripes to be 4" wide, by length shown in white
paint, 2 CaRts minimum.
