far as possible. I see no public good
being served by reducing the length
requirement. The only goog-that may be
served is temporarily keeping some
pressure off the city Engineer.
Another view: Letting this project not
meet the minimum throat requirement in
my view is c;ontraxy to thec;O\lnc:l1's
misionstatement. It opposses their
"Quality/Ethics" and "Publi<::safety"
toward values and opposes their "Greed
and Lack of Planning" Away Values,

Diivewayat Proposed Applebee's
There has been a question raised regarding the throat length of the driveway
proposed to serve the Applebee's restaurant from Texas Avenue. We offer the
following observations:
1. Paragraph 6, Geometric Design, of DFiveway Access (h), states that a
throat length, of 55 feet maybe required.
2. A throat length of 48 feet has been provided which will store two
automobiles; 55 feet will only store 2 ,automobiles.
3. No point of conflict exists as depicted in Figure 5 "Driveway Throat
Length". The driveway is not intersected by a cross-drive from the
ri ght.
We feel that the submitted driveway design is functional and within proper
design guidelines applied to this situation.

After briefly looklngover the proposal you sent by F~AX, I
have thefolloW'lngJ.nformattonal comments to add to the packet
of official information enclosed.
1. Your site appears to be too small to qualify for 2 curb
cut s.
2. Demolition plans must be submitted, approved and a perl111it
issued before any demolition begins.
3. Dumpsters must be located to be accessible to~the Solid
Waste trucks,. and must not be visible from any right-ot-
way.
4. A Fire Sprinkler system will be required if the buildillg
is 5,000 square feet or over. Sprinkler plans must be
submitted, reviewed and a.pproved prior to issuance of a
building permit.
Gary, these are by no means the only requirements to follow,
but are the ones most frequently overlooked when preparation
of plans begins. Also, the City of College Station uses the
1991 Standard' Building Code as amended . (See enclosed local
amendments.)

we look forward to working with you on this new project.
