Making a left turn on to or off of Dominik wiU become more difficult due to the fact that a motoristwiUhave to cross three lanes of traffic instead of two. The intersection design · plan proposed by the City of College Station is shown in Figure 2; It includes' installationofa median in Texas Avenue that, will result in prohibiting left-turns at the Texas/Dominik intersection. This. design, wiUimprove traffic safety and flow by reducing the number of accidents and allowing for more left-.turnstorage sPa.ce to be,provided.on Texas at George Bush. Accident history fortheDomini\<lTexasintersection is shown in Figure 3. It shows a high numberof left-turn and rear-end accidents that,for the most part, would not have occurred if left-turns were.. not. allowed at this. intersection. Texas Avenue at Dominik carries over50,OOOvehiclesaday. Motorists taking a left from ,Texas that patronize a business on Dominik make up only about one. percent of this traffic.
