Mr. Michel stated that CSISD should receive points for the
already installed::. irrigation system. Mr. Neal replied that

The motion passed unopposed by a vote o~ (5-0-1 y ; Mr. Gentry, ,

Private Lod es.
::Staff requested input from the Commission on the Masonic
Lodge being grouped with other fraternal and .private
organizations. The Commission agreed unanimously that the
Masonic Lodge should be considered in the :group 'and require
a C-1 zoning district.:

Mr. Jim Ridgeway,. ~ City of College Station Landfill Manager,
informed the Comm son that the current facilities are
temporary. in nature. The proposed office building .would be an
improvement which would make the site more p easurable and

safe. A temporary modular building will be set in p1acE~ with
exterior masonite siding.. A permanent:: structure :would be a
waste of money dine to the limited 12 year operation. Ore set
of scales wil remain and ~ one new set will be bouglht to
improve ~ the safety and traffic flow of the 'site. A s~.laller
dui ding will be pl-;aced between the 2 scales for oper~~tion
The water line will extend to...Rock Praire`Road if the City
feels they could use it as a transmission line.
Assistant to City Engineer Morgan stated that the 8"
transmission line will serve the future developed areas
outlined in the Land Use Map.
Mr. Esmond expressed concern over the water fine not being
placed in the public right-of-way for future public use,
uggesting the line should be made larger to serve the
surrounding developing areas.
Mr. Colson moved o approve the conditional use permit f`or an
office building at the ~ San ary Landfill Mr. Dz~esser
seconded he motion which passed unopposed ~6-0).

Masonic Libras and Museum.

Senior Planner Kee informed he Commission of the hi tor~y and

use of the proposed Library and Museum. She recommended the
approval of a conditohal use rather than requiring C-1
k zoning. `The list .af Conditional Uses in the Zoning Ordinance
includes community buildings, publis libraries and chuz~ches.
Private fraternal 1`odges are lusted as a permitted use in the
€:
C-1 General Commercial District.

Pete Normand, a repre entative of the Brazos Valley Masonic
f'~, Library and Museum Association, informed the Commission o~f the
k' intentional use of the facility. The structure will b'e more
`! residential in style with three. major meeting rooms, that will
contain books and museum cases. Meetings. will be educational
in nature ouch a planetarium shows, laser light displays,
etc. The library will contain information on Free: Masonry and..
its roll. in western culture, archaeology, mathematicsy and
operative Masonry.
Chairperson ~Sawtelle stated that she wanted it to be clear
that the establishment will be 1a library and museum and not a
fraternity hall. She saidthan the Commission should be
assured that all organizations will have access to the
