Signage: Signage will consist of three separate wooden greek letters, sigma', alpha, and mu,that, will be confined t.o an area of 4' by 10'. In addition, two pine trees and 120' of parallel parking adjacent to 200 Montclair should be removed to improve sight-distance looking ri(ght from this drive as shown on the attached schematic. An alternative to these prohibitioI1S is mak ing the alley one-way west-bound between Montclair and Highlands street. This would allow Rother's. BookStore to continue to fully utilize the pa,rking adjacent to their building and would not impact paI~'king' il1front of 200 Montclairo However, parking prohibitions fronting 201 Highlands would be necessary to insure adequate sight- distance for alley traffic looking left. This letterconv.eysmy feelings about the proposal and they are shared by my wife. I have lived at 202 Montclair since 1.937. Therefore we strongly object to the proposed locationofafraternity house next door and in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The exact distance between the two residential wooden structures is twenty five feet and four inches. What value. isa.zoningprogram.ifitis. to be whittledaway.by these. kinds .of requested exceptions? I am not against fraternity houses provided they are located in areas other than residential neighborhoods. I am highly allergic to very loud music and late night noises such as slamming doors and yelling at any hour of night or day, . scattered. beer cans and clutteredparking...ona..narrow.streetand . yard. These . factors ...become most acute at parties on weekends. From the beginning, the protection of neighborhoods and their preservation was paramont; we did not want to follow the pattern of Bryan. I recognize that our neighborhood will eventually likely become multi-family, Off campus parkingandlor office complex. . .but we are not there as yet! Texas A& M twi"th which I an my family have been identified as student and employee at executive level,wasconceived as one great Fraturnity and not to become fractured into these Greek societies which we now observe. Such societies have arepretation of organized "hell raising", contributin.g todeterioation of a residential neighborhood, soundpoluters and parking space gobblers.'
