Warning Devices
When utility work is ~condueted less than 30' from. the edge of the travel lace,
W 21-4U warning devices shall ~e requ~.red for the protecta.on of the traveling
,public. '~heae signs should be :placed approximately 750' on either side of the
work site, on - he side of approaching traffic
When utlit~r work ..involves encroachment on the travel-way by :workmen or equ~.pment,
W2U-1D warning devices shall be required in addition ~o the W21-4U signs and Class 1~
barricades. The WZO~»1D signs shah. be placed on either side of the work side, an the
side ofapproaching tratt'ic. Flagmen shall be positioned a minimum of 300' from the
'~ encroachment , and the.. W20-7D signs and th ~ W21-4U signs sh a 11 be placed at approximately
504' intervals.
