Parking Requirement' for Football Stadiums
The College Station Independenit,lrSchool District is in the process
of designing the siteplan f~r"':i~i~eir new football stadium
complex. The Zoni:ng Ordinani~.E]'.i~:Res not speci fy a parking
requirement for a football s~~"~i~!i}l:m.or for anything similar to a
s tadi urn. Therefore, by ordi!l\l8'I.1:Q'e ,the Commiss ion mus t set the
requirement.

The planning staff has contacted several cities concerning this
issue. The results of our telephone inquiries are attached.

VICTORIA: Sports arenas - 1 per 4 seats
WICHITA FALLS: 1 per 4 seats
EL CAMPO: 1 per 5 seats
GAINESVILLE: Public assembly - 1 per 3 seats
BRENHAM: 1 per 4 seats
TOMBALL: 1 per 4 or5 seats would be an adequate number
COPPELL: Public assembly - 1 per 3 seats required; Variance
granted to a stadium for 1 per 5 seats
PLANO: 1 per 3 seats
IRVING: 1 per 6 seats

Dear Mr. Calloway:
I am writing to you concerning the parking requirements for the New
Athletic Facility to be located on Welsh Street across from the High
School. The stadium in this facility is planned to seat 5,410
people with capability to be expanded to, seata,OOO people. Our
cur:rent city ordina.nce does not define the parking requirements for
such a facility. Therefore, ,the following information is offered
as back up for ourpropose.d parking ratio.

There are currently 511 spaces around the high school.. We are
proposing to add ..262 spaces, bringing the total on . site parking
to 773 spaces. The<parkingratio,for on site parking would be
I car. per 7 people. Please. note that there is space available
to expand parking as attendance grows and the stadium expands.
