OTHER USES IN THE M-l PLANNED INDUSTHIAL DISTRICT
The Commission is allowed to consider uses other than those
listed as permitted uses in various zoning districts. The M-l
Planned Industrial District is one such district. Attached is a
letter from Mr. Riddle requesting the consideration of permitting
consignment auctions in the M-l district. He is specifically
looking at' the property at 512 West Loop, located on the SOtlth
side of 2818 about 800 feet west of the intersection of 2818 and
Welsh. However, the Commission will be considering permitting
this use is all M-l districts, not just at the location desired
by Mr. Riddle.
Attached is a copy of the M-l district regulations. The purpose
of this district as originally created (it was a part of
Ordinance 850 adopted in 1972) was for tfhigh techtf type
industrial uses where architecture and other aesthetic
considerations would be subject to review. The purpose statement
changed slightly tvi th the adoption of OrdiIlance 1638 but the
intent remained the same. The list of permitted uses has always
been the same. This district was intended to be compatible with
adjacent uses in any other district depending on the conditi.ons
imposed.
