Councilman MCIlhaney asked why this request was not considered during the
budget process. She stated her concern with chipping away at the
cont ingency fund so .early,inthebudgetyear-.
AssistahtCitYManager VanDever stated that the request had been received
only a month ago.
Mayor Halter- stated tha>s internShips are used by.a number of Texas c fties,
who feel that it is the irre~pon<sibilitytopr-'ovide valuable work
experience toy-oung prof:essionals. In addition, he stated it affords the
city a cheaper way of doing things.
Councilman Runnels asked what the balance of the General Fund Contingertcy
