Pullen, City E:nginee~ Site Plan for Buff's Fuel & Food Project - Located at the intersection nf Barron Road and Texas Highway 6 I have reviewed the above site plan and find r can still not accept the driveway entrances as .resubmitted.. The Barron Road entrance is not set back 200 feet from the proposed Highway 6 Right-Of-Way as is required by our minimum standard policy for major streetjntersection~.The two entrances on Highway 6 are much closer than the 500 foot mi nimum spacing guide we are trying to follow referred to in our Comprehensive Plan. I agree, a project of this naturewould.enjoy better accessibiHty.ifit accessed both on Highway 6 and Barron. Road. However , the purpose of both of these arteri a 1 ,facilities is to carry.traffic and obstructing the traffic arterials with numerous.. turning movementsassnci ated wi. thnumerpus . access points serves only to reduce the carrying capacity of the arterials and render a hardship on a 11 who uSe them. .'i.i> ........> (/'. .Y..i> . ...... · >... The drive on Barron Road, located less than 200 feet fr-om the intersection. of Barron Road, and.Texas, 6 proposed frontage road, may require the insta llatianaf traffic' channeli ztngdeviceswhi ch ,wi II prevr~t lef~tut~~movementsinto and aut af it~,when.?in. theapinianaf tTe Ira!fic'Engi~eer"it is warranted. The nartherly drive an Texas .liq is slightlyclaser to. the intersection afBarran Road than the 2~q faatminimumbut is within an acceptable range. Thesautherly drive is much less than the 500 foot spacing refer rea to in this citjl,-s current Comprehensive Plan. If a second drive entrance is constructed on Texas Ave. , it should be a joi:ntaccess drive with the property immediately sauth af this ane.
