.
The roofing contractor shall be responsible for providing
proper surfaces to receive roofing and flashing. The
roofing subcontractor shall notify the General Contractor
in writing of any and all defects in the receiving surfaces,
and work shall not proceed until such defects have been
corrected. At commencement of roofing application, the
entire area to be roofed shall be inspected by the roofing
~.'b(.cntractor to determine that it is free of debris and
ot,he:r.wise acceptable for roofing.

Surface to receive Sarnafil 621-410 gray shall be
primed with Sarnacol 2170 and allowed to dry.
Adhesive shall be applied to underside of sheet and
allowed to become tacky. Adhesive shall not be applied
to lap area. Sheet shall be positioned so as to lap
next sheet as required (refer to Welding of Laps section
bel~w) and make firm contact with primed surface.
ii. Sarnacol ~12l aqueous emulsion adhesive:
(May be used in lieu of Sarnacol 2170 on water
absorbent surfaces only when outside nighttime
temperatures are above freezing.) Sarnacol 2121
shall be applied to substrate (refer to list of
adhesive application rates for various substrates.)
Sarnafil membrane 621-410 gray shall be laid into

Systems:
(See "Design Details': Section 3),
Use Sikaplan PVC 12G membrane.
Use Sikaplan PVC 12GS membrane for installations on all highrise
buildings, on irregularly shaped buildings, and on buildings exposed
to extreme wind load and/or wind flow.
Posrtion and unroll membrane.
Membrane shall be placed flush with roof perimeter, all vertical
surfaces, walls, all curbs and cants, etc. Use 5 In. (12'/2 em) fastener
spacing (around roof perimeter' and ail roof projections).
Mark spacing distance on ftl9nbrane edges and place stress plates
in posrtion so that the distaAci cetween membrane edge and the edge
of the stress plate is a min.",i.m of '4 in. (3 mm).
Fasten serews securety throtJgt1 insulation into structural deck. Use
either Fabco Straight Shooter- or power drill equipped with proper
inserts.
Overlap next roU a minimum of 2 in. (5 em) ~ streas plstes for
hand-weld operation, a minimum of 3 in. (7'12 cm) beyond streu
pfates for f1\8Cf'rine..weld operation.
Follow procedUNS d81cribed aboYe.
Wekj 888m as outlined in F in this section.
Overlap next rotl and follow procedures described above.
Install extra stripping as shown in "Design Details" (Section 3) and
as outlined in E In this section.
Weld all inside and outside comers, etc., as outlined in Fin thil section.
Install membrane flashings at all penetrations, alc units, vem stacks,
drains, skylights, etc., as shown in "Design Details" (Section 3) and
outlined in E in this section.
Check alt seams as outlined in F in this section.
.
~
Install extra stripping/membrane flashings at roof perimEtter and all
penetrations, alc units, vent stacks. drains, skylights, etc., in a way
that wind can not get underneath tr.e membrane, as shown in "Design
Details" (Section 3).
Use Sikaplan PVC 12G, Sikaplan PVC 12GS, or Sikaplan PVC 120
membrane.
Note: Uae Sikaplan PVC 120 for vent staats, drains, etc. Cut mem-
brane stripping, sleeves, collars, etc., accordingly to detaW dimensions.
Apply Sika PVC Contact Adheetve C-733 to both substrate and
membrane usjng a so/v.enHeefstant paint roller or paint brush.
Allow adhesive to get tacky.. . drying time increases in cold weather
and under conditions of excessive humidity.
Place membrane in position and press it solidly to substrate using
rubber roller from your Leister heat-weldtftg equipment.
Avoid air pockets.
Be sure you place membrane in an exact position the first time...
readjusting is impossible.
Extend extra stripping/memhrane flashings a minimum of 3 in.
(7% cm) onto the horizontal roof area.
Weld seams as outlined in F in this section.
See data sheet on Sika PVC Contact Adhesive C-733 for more details.

General Requirements:
The operation of the welding equipment requires specia4 skills. Sjka
Corr>oration provides a complete program to train the Roofing
Contractor in the proper techniques of hand welding and machine
welding.
Opef..... of haM Mid l.. 1H8c::
· Set Triac for the maximum temperature and allow to warm up
for a minimum of 2 min.
· Insert 11h-in. (40 mm) nozzle into 2-in. (5 em) seam end taok wefd
3O-in. (75 cm) on center.
. Insert 1'/z-;n (40 mm) nozzie into 2-in (5 cm) seam and weld back
eene to avoid exit of hot air during final welding procedure.
· Insert 11h-in. (40 mm) nozzle into 2-in. (5 cm) seam by tuminggun to
a 45 degree ang! ~"d move gun gently forward. The stUcone hand
roller follows 11 " "ozzle by applying slight pressure.
. l Jse 31.-in. (20 r. m) nozzlo for welding corners, pipe sleeves, etc.
Operation of Aut.oroatic Leister Variant:
· Sot Variant for the maxi~m temperature and allow to warm up
for 2 min.
· Set speed for the maximum cetting and insert nozzle into seam.
A proper welding performance is achieved when the dark-gray
underside material of the membrane begins to flow and starts
squeezing beyond the seam €:dge. Smoke development also
~ . proper wekiiAg ~.
· If machine produr.e~ improper scam welding, reduce speed
accordingly.
· tf the machine causae burning ot membrane, reduce heat
accordingly.
Checking welded M-atmS;
An uninterrupted bead of melted inaterial from the dark--gray under-
side of the membrane must be v;~ible. In addition to that, run a
screwdriver along the scam to check for not homogeneously welded
spots.
See data sheets on Leister Triac and Leister Variant for more details.
