Dr. .Vergi l Stover~ Chairman

College Station!) Texas 77840,
Dear Dr. Stover:
Attached are St. Thomas Episcopal Church's application for aConditionaZ
Use Permit!) together with a check for the: required fe? an'd 10 copies 0 f a
plan for the intended use of the property. The property' in q'ues:tion is a
large residence on a 1.1 acre tract'which forms the'reap.part of the'chu~@h
property. Our parish purchased' this house and land from the Oil W", Silvey'
Estate in 1977 ,for the purpose of enlargi'ng our service in this community'.
As you may know!) St. Thomas has had a preschool ,and kindergarten pr,ogram
since 1964!) the St. Thomas Early Learning Center. The response of the' eom-
munity to the opportunities offered by our nationally recognized school for
advanced preschool education has resulted'in our having a waiting list in
recent year. Our pZan!) which this appZicationdocuments" is to conti'nue
and extend our use of our property for the day school into the residence
which we acquiredlast year. This extension will permit us to offer' an ad-
ditional classroom!) and to free church property badly needed for other par-
ish uses. We also will use the converted residence for Sunday School cZass~
rooms.
Our present parking lot is!) .of course!) far more than adequate for the day
school staff. We plan to add two teachers for this extension. The chil-
dren will continue to be dropped of at 8:30 a.m.!) and picked up at noon or
at 3:00 p.m.!) which has been our long-standing practice. The addition of
14 children is not expected to have a significant effect on the dropoff
traffic.
Extensive remodeling of the house for its new use and to bring it into con-
formance with city codes will be required!) and we hope to open the new ex-
tension to our day school in the early fall. To do this!) we will have to
begin wopk vePy soon~ and thepefope pespectfuZZy pequest that a heaPing be
