SUBJECT - PETITION
TO - City of College Station
RE - Request that application for a conditional use permit by Marca1,
Inc. for the construction of sorority houses be denied.
FROM - Citizens of the neighborhood
~t has lately come to our attention that MARCAL, INC. has requested a
conditional use permit for the construction of three sorority houses to
belocated.west of Ml\I1son Drive and between Dominic Drive and University
Oaks Drive. Consultation with Mr. Al Mayo, City Planner, reveals that three
additional sorority houses are planned for the area.
Sororittes are not recognized by Texas A&M University, and the are not
regulated by the University. Unregulated activities by large numbers of
students can only lead to degradation of the neighborhood.
In order' to protect the residential integrity of the neighborhood, we, the
undersigned, respectfully request that the request of MARCAL, INC. be
dellied.

Re: C~nditional Use Permit for Sororities
Wi Idwood Subdivision
College Station" Texas
Dear Vergil:
In an effort t() keep all Planning and Zoning COrYlmittee members fl~lly
informed of our erldeavors regarding the referenced matter I a,m
taking this opportunity to submit additional pertinent informatic>n
prior to our publ ie hearing on 2 March 197El.
We have tentative agreements with the following sororities to pur-
chase land and construct sorority houses on OUt'" land between N\uns()n
Street and the propos.ed Wildwood Street. The sorot"ities are:
1. Xi Ka,ppa of Chi Omega House Corporation
2 0 Delta Omega House C'orporation
3. Theta Garr"lma of Zeta, TaLI Alpha House C()rporation
I am enclosing a copy of tl'1e agreemetit with each sorority for ,yo'L~r
review prior to our hearing and would 1 ike to encoura.ge arlY questior\s
that YOL~ may have regarding this matter. We feel that the proposed
conditional use permit is justified and would ct~eate a harn'loniou.s land
use between Dominik Street and Ur\iversity Oaks Boulevard.
Your observations, comments and/or questions wOL~ld be a~)pre(;iated
and we look for'ward to working with you again in the near ftJture.
Kirldest regards,
ctJ~
