WATER SYSTEM ANALYSIS
FOR
GREAT OAKS SUBDIVISION, PHASE 13-14
General Information
Area encompassed by this phase: 124 acres
Anticipated land use: Single family residential (Great Oaks)
Anticipated number of lots: 24 lots
Notes on surrounding development: The subdivision is bounded by Great Oaks Phase 1
to the east and south, Quail Run Subdivision, and
property owned by the Kavanaugh Family to the
west.
Water System Analysis
Primary water supply line:
Existing 8" water line on Great Oaks Drive,
Arboleda Drive, and Walnut Road
Software model:
PIPE2012 (Kentucky Pipe Network Model)
Estimated peak domestic demand:
1.5 gpm per residential lot (per TCEQ
requirements)
Estimated fire demand:
1000 gpm
Pipe material:
PVC (C900)
Most Hydraulically Remote Point:
Node J-26 (See Exhibit A)
This is determined by calculating the lowest
pressure under static conditions.
Testing Method:
Wellborn S.U.D. performed the fire flow test on
May 13, 2013. A Pollard Hydrant Flow Gauge was
used to measure the flow at the existing fire hydrant
located at the intersection of Great Oaks Drive and
Arboleda Drive. The reading on the gauge was 70
psi which corresponds to a flow of 1450 gpm.
Water Model Parameters:
The model has been setup to analyze the "worst
case scenario'. We have assumed that Great Oaks
Phase 13/14 are fully developed and we only have
connections to the existing water system at Great
Oaks Drive. The model will work under these
conditions. However as the remainder of the Great
Oaks Subdivision is developed, additional
connections to the existing system will be made.
These connections will increase the pressures for
the entire system during fire flow conditions.
