Job #118200 Sewer Report for Tauber Street Sanitarv Sewer Improvements College Station, Texas I 0/20/2006 The proposed improvements to the sanitary system servicing the block bounded by Tauber Street, Cherry Street and College Main include the partial abandonment of the existing sanitary sewer which runs through an easement across the back lot lines, construction of a new 6" PVC sanitary sewer beginning at lot 7 and turning northeast along the property line between lots 12 and 13, and construction of a new 8" PVC sanitary sewer along the north side of Tauber Street. All of which will tie into the existing sanitary manhole at the intersection of Cherry Street and Tauber Street. The discharge into the new system was estimated based on the average daily flows listed in the College Station Design Manual, and can be found in the attached spreadsheet. Velocities were calculated using Manning's equation, assuming, as stated in the guidelines, a full pipe under peak flow conditions. Flow from the future sanitary was also taken into account in the design of the Tauber Street portion of the sewer. An estimated 5000 peak gph was added to the proposed flow for segments F through K. The flows on the Tauber Street portion of the sewer downstream of manhole 4 require a steeper slope than the rest of the sewer. This is detailed in the sanitary sewer plan and profile drawing. In no case does the flow exceed the maximum capacity of the pipe. The building is a type IIB, 50,505 square feet. According to the 2003 IFC Appendix B, it requires 4750 GPM x 0.5 for sprinkler installation or 2375 GPM required fire flow. Based on a nominal system pressure of 75 psi and a fire flow of 1000 GPM on the north hydrant and 1375 GPM on the south hydrant, the residual pressure at the hydrants will be 67.6 psi and 73.0 psi, respectively. Please review at your earliest possible convenience and call if additional information is required. GAC:gac Enclosure-Drawing Sincerely, BINKLEY & BARFIELD, INC. :Jting ;;ne~ Glenn Carlson, P.E.
