Re : Water Design Report
Public Restrooms
Northgate Area
College Station, Texas
Gessner Engineering Job No.: 08-0256
Dear Ms. Bridges:
This letter shall serve to meet the requirements of a Water Design Report, showing that
the design of the proposed improvements meet the flow requirements of the BCS Unified
Design Guidelines Manual.
The proposed development consists of an approximate 560 square foot (sf) public
restroom facility and dumpster relocation in the Northgate Area . There is an existing six
(6) inch fire line that serves the fire hydrant located southwest of the proposed restroom .
This 6 inch line runs southwest and ties into and existing eight (8) inch water main
situated in Patricia Street. It is unknown what the existing eight (8) inch main in Patricia
services as this information is not available. Additionally, an analysis of G
the existing system and the entire area it serves is not within the scope
of this project. The 6 inch PVC line (C200 AWWA C900) that we are
tying to was designed by McClure Engineering with their Patricia Street
Project dated April 4, 1997. There is no information on these plans that Gessner
addresses the design parameters of this line. We did obtain a fire flow . .
report from the City of College Station and this information has been Engmeermg
provided in the Fire Flow Report for th is project by Gessner Engineering
dated November 10, 2008.
The water demands for the proposed public restroom were calculated
using the fixture unit method . The fixtures include: two (2) lavatories,
two (2) urinals, and 6 water closets (tank operated). This gives a total
fixture unit count of 36. The gallon per minute (gpm) values for each
fixture were applied to the fixture units calculated and a total Peak Water
Demand of 55.2 gpm was determined. According to the BCS Unified
Design Guidelines, the Average Water Demand is the Peak Water
Demand I four (4). This gave an Average Water Demand of 13.8 gpm.
