Dear Ms. Boyer:
The fire flow test information was provided to Gessner Engineering in regards to
the fire hydrant located at 1501 Athens , at the southeast corner of the property.
The fire flow information is as follows :
Static Pressure= 96 psi
Residual Pressure = 90 psi
Flow = 1250 gpm
We have not received the fire demand information for the proposed sorority
house. They are still working on those values and we will submit them with the
next submittal of plans incorporating the city review comments on this submittal.
Please contact us if you have any questions or if we can be of further G
assistance.
Sincerely,
GESSNER ENGINEERING

Sui re I 05 C9', Based on the Site Design Standards for the City of College Station, the
fire-flow requirement for the proposed Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority House College Srarion, Texas 77840
is less than 1,750 gpm. The table, on page nine of the Site Design r.o. Box 10763. 77842-0763
Standards for the City of College Station, states a minimum of one
hydrant is required for flows within 1,750 gpm or less. Therefore, the
fire hydrant at 1501 Athens should be adequate for the use of Zeta
Tau Alpha Sorority.

Based on the descriptions provided in the International Building Code, the
proposed Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority House will be constructed as a Type IB
structural frame. The typical wood framed structure supported on a slab-on-
grade with drilled piers foundation will have approximately 20,525 square feet.
The proposed sorority house will have a sprinkler system built in.
With the proposed construction type and square footage, Table B 105.1 found in
the appendix B of the International Fire Code estimates the fire flow to be 1,500
gallons per minute. Table C 105.1 of the International Fire Code states this type
of flow requires one (1) fire hydrant.
The fire flow test information provided to Gessner Engineering in
regards to the fire hydrant located at 1501 Athens, at the southeast
corner of the property is as follows:
Static Pressure = 96 psi
Residual Pressure = 90 psi
Flow = 1250 gpm
The fire flow information for the fire hydrant on Munson was not
available. However, since this building will contain a sprinkler system it
provides fifty percent credit toward the required flow, therefore , the
required flow is 750 gallons per minute. Considering the proposed
house will be located between each fire hydrant, the proposed Zeta
Tau Alpha Sorority House should have more than adequate fire flow
provided.

Gessner Engineering Job No.: 08-0071
Dear Ms . Bridges:
Based on the descriptions provided in the International Building Code, the
proposed Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority House will be constructed as a Type VA
structural frame. The typical wood framed structure supported on a slab-on-
grade with drilled piers foundation will have approximately 20,525 square feet.
The proposed sorority house will have a sprinkler system bu ilt in.
With the proposed construction type and square footage, Table B 105.1 found in
the appendix B of the International Fire Code estimates the fire flow to be 3,750
gallons per minute. Table C 105.1 of the International Fire Code states this type
of flow requires four (4) fire hydrants.
The fire flow test information provided to Gessner Engineering in
regards to the fire hydrants adjacent to the proposed Zeta Tau Alpha
Sorority House can be found in the table below, Table One. The fire
hydrants are located at 1501 Athens, at the southeast corner of the
property, and 1000 Bayou Woods, across Munson on the northeast
section of the property.
Fire Hydrant Locatipn ·.· 1591 Att.tens ·. 1 OOOJ:3(ly()u Woods
Static Pressure 96 psi 96 psi
Residual Pressure 90 psi 92 psi
Fire Hydrant Flow 1250 gpm 1405 gpm
Table One: Fire Hydrant Flow Report Data
Gessner Engineering was informed if the building contains a sprinkler
system it provides fifty percent credit toward the required flow.
Therefore, since the building will contain a sprinkler system the
required flow is 1,875 gallons per minute. Considering the proposed
house will be located between each fire hydrant listed in the table
above, the total flow available is 2,655 gallons per minute. Therefore,
