I agree that by lifting the 21 day restriction currently in place is a positive move to welcome the mobile vendors to our city however I am concerned with the 300 feet buffer zone. Perhaps a 200 or 300 feet diameter (vs radius) would be a possible compromise and be less than a threat to the brick and mortar restaurants. Although both the brick and mortar restaurants and mobile vendors are competing for the customer's "restaurant dollars" the patrons for either place are of different breeds. Restaurant customers go to sit down and have lunch/dinner and the mobile vendor patrons are mostly a grab and run sort. Thanks again for your time, J. B. I will convey your concerns to City Council during their Feb. 24th meeting that begins at 7:00 pm in Council Chamber located at the south end of City Hall. There is also a public hearing for this item on that night and you are welcomed to come speak. It is scheduled for Council to take action on this item during that meeting. I would like to clarify one point that you mentioned. Currently, the City does not allow for year-round continuous mobile food vendors to operate. The proposed ordinance actually lessen the regulations on these uses and opens it up to this business venture. Have a great day. Lauren Lauren Amelia Hovde '06 Staff Planner Planning & Development Services Department 979-764-3570 >>> J B Dott <nolsandman@gmail.com> 2/14/2011 7:26 PM >>> The proposed buffer zone for mobile vendors will only serve to hinder competition in the restaurant business. The proposed regulations for a buffer zone for brick and mortar restaurants only hinders the improvement of food quality and service thus hurting the people of College Station. We currently have two entrepreneurs who are willing to risk the venture and bring mobile kitchens to our town and serve high quality food and we should be welcoming their ventures and help them expand their business to the citizens of College Station, not creating hurdles to hinder their ventures. Their high quality food will only to serve to make the other restaurants improve their food quality and services. COMPETITION MAKES US ALL BETTER. If we were to protect the brick and mortar restaurants perhaps we should create a buffer zone that applies to the brick and mortar restaurants too, meaning that restaurants could not coexist as neighbors unless they complied with a buffer zone. The logic that the Planning and Development Service should protect restaurants by creating buffer zones does not make sense. Please reconsider this anti business proposal. J. B. To summarize: • We have changed the downstream boundary condition from normal depth to water surface elevation on the following streams: o Spring Creek Upper o A4-Main o A3-Main o Al -A • All the above mentioned streams along with Spring Creek Lower should be identified by FEMA as "Spring Creek' • The changes on the above mentioned streams are updated both for "Existing" and "Ultimate Conditions" • The SFHA does not change from what we have submitted previously, since for mapping purpose we used the downstream water surface elevation Also, beginning next week, we will start sending out the property owner notifications with the changes suggested by file://C:\Documents and Settings\ebridges\Local Settings\Temp\XPgrpwise\4D67AFADCity ofLi1
