Design Notes
Landscaping
Immediately after completion of the Installation of the system, the homeowner must sod
or seed the sprayfield with grass. The owner should keep the grass mowed in the
sprayfleld area to allow sunlight to reach the surface. Do not, under any circumstances,
grow anything edible for humans or animals in the sprayfield area. Keep tree branches
"cut back" and underbrush removed in the sprayfield area to allow the full spray radius.
It is the homeowners responsibility to fill in low areas and maintain proper drainage.
Sprinkler Heads
If the owner or contractor wants to mark the sprinkler head locations, do not place
anything near these heads that will interfere with the projection of the water as "pooling"
can occur. The installer has some latitude on installation location of the sprinkler heads
and supply lines as long as there is no violation of the minimum setback requirements.
Effluent Disinfection
Tanks
Approved disinfection methods shall include chlorination (tablet or liquid), ozonation, or ultra
violet radiation. Disinfection shall occur between the treatment tank and the pump tank,
or within the pump tank. Dry chlorinators shall use calcium hypochlorite properly
labeled for wastewater disinfection.
The pump tank will be set to have a reserve of at least 1/3 the daily flow and a minimum
dosing of I /2 the daily flow.
The effluent pump shall be hardwired on a separate circuit from the high water level
alarm and all wiring shall be in accordance with the National Electric Code (1999).
The pump tank high water level alarm shall be an audible and a visible alarm.

Design Notes
Tanks
All precast concrete tanks shall conform to requirements in the Materials and
Manufacture Section and the Structural Design Requirements Section of American
Society for Testing and Materials (ASTMl Designation: C 1227, Standard Spedifications
for Precast Concrete Septic Tanks (2000).
If controlled by a Timer, the Timer should be set to spray between midnight and 5:00 a.m. There shall
· be at least one day storage between the alarm-on level and the pump-on level, and a storage volume of
1/3 the daily flow betweem the alarm-on level and the inlet to the pump tank.
Property Surface Improvements
Do not build driveways, sidewalks, storage buildings, porches, decks, or other surface
improvements over the tanks or sprayfield.
Maintenance
The installer will provide service and maintenance to the system for a minumum of two (2) years
. after installation completion. Owner should check plumbing on a consistent basis and repair any leaks
found promptly. Owner should read and follow the instruction manual for installed system to keep
their system in proper work mg order. Owner/occupant of the property should check the vegetation
growth around the sprinkler heads. Any growth around the sprinkler head may prevent the projection
of treated wastewater.
The system must be sampled and tested in accordanc with State/County requirements through a
sampling port located in the discharge line from the pump to the sprayfleld, which shall be contained
within the pump tank.
System is designed in accordance with daily water usage described above. Any usage above the
designed daily maximum water usage rate will invalidate this design. Designer is not responsible for
the integrity of the installed system, or workmanship of the installer. The designer only guarantees
that the design at least meets the minimum standards as required by the state of Texas for a permitted
on-site sewage facility.
