Box 9960 College Station,Texas 77842 Attn: Kevin Ferrer RE: Fire Flow Status,Center for Alternative Learning Project Dear Kevin, The following fire flow information is being provided for the Center for Alternative Learning(CAL) building construction on George Bush Drive in College Station. A 396 LF 8"waterline was designed to meet the needs of CAL. The waterline was later rerouted due to a conflict with a portable building that will be needed as a temporary facility during construction. A new waterline placement was designed but required an increase in pipe length. The length of the rerouted waterline is 703 LF. As shown in the previous water model dated October 2014 for this project, the 396 LF meets the requirements set in the BCS design standards for pressures and velocities. The worst case scenario modeled for CAL was fire flow of 1250 GPM placed at nodes C.A.L.-3 &4 during peak day demand. This scenario was modified by increasing the length of the 8" WL to 703 LF. Attached are the results (junction&nodes)from this model. As you can see the pressure slightly decrease, and there was no change in velocities of the pipe. The proposed waterline reroute will meet the BCS design requirements of 12 ft/sec velocities maximum and 20 psi pressure minimum.
